Volusion has sold Mozu, its enterprise-level ecommerce platform, to Kibo.
With the sale, Volusion founder and CEO Kevin Sproles said he hopes to strengthen Volusion’s presence in the SMB ecommerce space and advance its core product, and feels confident that existing Mozu customers will be pleased with the new ownership.
“We know that Kibo is the right company to take Mozu to the next level,” Sproles said. “Mozu customers will remain in good hands, and Volusion merchants can look forward to a renewed focus on the SMB business.”
With the sale of Mozu, Volusion said it now has more resources to serve its existing and future SMB merchants. The ultimate goal is to get into a fast, customer-driven cycle of input and delivery to make merchants more successful.
“We recently implemented a new chief technology and chief product leadership structure, and we’re building a world class product and engineering team,” Sproles said. “We are a customer-first brand, and we now have the right resources to make our services even better.”
Kibo is dedicated to empowering retailers and branded manufacturers with industry-leading omnichannel commerce solutions to unify the consumer experience. The acquisition and integration of Mozu’s technology into the Kibo platform will enable roadmap acceleration to deliver the industry’s most robust, feature-rich, cloud enterprise commerce technology.
Existing Kibo customers will benefit from an injection of unique technologies that will enhance market differentiation and platform extensibility, Kibo said in a press release.
“This investment represents our commitment to empowering our customers to increase sales and improve consumer loyalty,” said Kenneth Frank, CEO, Kibo. “We couldn’t be more thrilled at Kibo to bring Mozu into the platform and look forward to partnering with all of our customers to see continued success as a result of this investment.”
Vista Equity Partners launched Kibo in January, two months after the private equity group acquired ecommerce platform provider MarketLive and order management firm Shopatron and consolidated them with another new acquisition, mobile POS solution provider Fiverun.
In September, Kibo acquired cloud-based personalization platform Baynote.
