It’s a wise woman who remembers to accessorize, or so the name of Brooklyn, NY-based Sage 70 implies. The 20-page catalog, which sells hats, bags, lingerie, jewelry, and scarves, launched in May with a mailing of 11,000. Recipients were names rented from women’s fashion magazines such as “Lucky” and catalogs such as Sundance and Anthropologie.
“Our focus is to bring the consumer the finishing touches or accents to their wardrobe,” says owner Elisa Seeger, previously a fashion buyer for men’s clothing. Prices range from $10 for thongs to $120 for silver-and-crystal bracelets; so far the average order size is $50.
For the next mailing, scheduled for October, will expand to 24 pages and include more scarves, knit hats, and socks. She also hopes to mail at least 20,000 copies, to customers and requesters. To promote the catalog, Seeger ran an ad in the June issue of “Lucky.” She would also like to advertise in magazines such as “Self,” “Shape,” “Teen Vogue,” and “Glamour.”
