Shopping for order management software (OMS) is never fun, but at least we’ve done much of the legwork for you with our annual roundup. We have four new systems in this year’s review, along with updates on the systems we reviewed last year.
Actually, “new” may be a misnomer. Two of the four newly reviewed solutions are actually new Java variations of existing applications: CWSerenade (the Java version of CWDirect from Datavantage/CommercialWare) and Escalate Retail Multi-Channel Commerce (the Java version of Escalate’s Ecometry Commerce Suite). The third is SigmaCommerce from Sigma-Micro, which incorporates much of what had been the Quark Commerce Suite. The fourth, Comprehensive Commerce Suite from Abison, is a brand-new Windows-based system with an integrated e-commerce platform.
A fifth new system, Opentaps’ Open Source ERP + CRM, was excluded from the roundup because, As the name indicates, it is open-source software that you can download for free and configure yourself to run on a PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server — provided you have the software development skills available, of course. The Opentaps user community provides support to itself (see www.opentaps.org).
