Perch Raises $775M Toward Acquiring More Amazon Brands

Perch, part of a growing wave one of Amazon brand rollups in the hottest space in retail, just raised $775 million, bringing its war chest to over $900 million as it looks to add to a portfolio of 70 brands acquired in just 18 months and considers product launches. The company opened its own FC and is eyeing Asia and South America.

Vertex Acquires Irish Firm Taxamo

Vertex, a provider of sales tax automation software, has acquired Irish payments and tax solution provider Taxamo for $200 million in an all-cash transaction, positioning it to address compliance with new European Union tax requirements impacting remote sellers going into effect July 1.

PayPal Acquires Happy Returns

Looking to create more of an end-to-end ecommerce solution and move beyond the perception that it’s a payments platform only, PayPal has acquired Happy Returns, which consolidates returns for retailers via a national network of mall and store collection points. PayPal had led a 2019 funding round of $11M into Happy Returns.

Walmart Acquires Virtual Dressing Room Firm Zeekit

Making a bigger push into selling fashion online, Walmart said it is acquiring Israeli virtual dressing room provider Zeekit for an undisclosed sum. The owner of acquired fashion brands Eloquii, Moosejaw and Bonobos is looking to make the online clothing shopping experience more fun, while also cutting down on returns.
