Chargeurs Announces New Partnership With Immigrant-Assistance Organization QARI

Chargeurs Donates Masks and Gloves to QARI and Its Restaurant Partners in Support of the GetFoodNYC Program

New York, NY, Nov. 2, 2020 – Chargeurs*PCC Fashion Technologies today announced that it has launched a new strategic partnership with Quincy Asian Resources Inc. (QARI), whose mission is to foster and improve the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of immigrants and their families in New York City and across Massachusetts.

Chargeurs is also donating PPE to QARI and its restaurant partners that are contracted with the City of New York to provide emergency home meal delivery through GetFoodNYC, which serves some of New York’s most vulnerable residents who are unable to go out for food and can’t afford delivery as a result of COVID-19. QARI-NYC is contracted with the City to provide culturally sensitive meals to people in need through the program and the PPE Chargeurs is donating will be used by the delivery teams and by employees at participating restaurants that prepare the meals.

“We’re extremely proud to partner with QARI, an organization whose mission we support and admire, and to work alongside its President and CEO, Philip Chong, and his team,” said Angela Chan, Managing Director and President of Chargeurs*PCC Fashion Technologies. “QARI has a broad and deep network of business partners it has developed through its job placement and creation programs and those relationships make it a perfect partner for us.”

Founded in 2001, QARI is a resource center that provides adult education and youth programming, social services, and employment opportunities to immigrant communities. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it has provided virtual outreach services and focused on creating job opportunities for the communities it serves, many of which have been affected by business downturns leading to layoffs.

Philip Chong, who immigrated to the US from Hong Kong as a teenager, previously spent nearly two decades as a management and business consultant before shifting to the nonprofit sector. Since joining QARI as President and CEO in 2017, he has focused on expanding its programs and establishing partnerships with businesses that benefit both the communities QARI serves and the businesses themselves.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is hitting the immigrant community especially hard,” said Chong. “Our strategic partnership with Chargeurs helps us serve these communities through job opportunities, while also helping ensure they are protected by offering this donated PPE from socially responsible organizations like Chargeurs.”

Chargeurs has made a significant investment in reshoring PPE production to the US this year. The company’s Lainiere Health & Wellness division has retooled its Ohio factory and is creating new jobs in the US by leveraging its technical expertise in materials and textiles to help fill the urgent need for domestically produced PPE.
