Cimcorp Named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s Top Supply Chain Projects List for 2021

Leading intralogistics solutions specialist awarded for helping global 3PL provider boost fulfillment speed, ensure order accuracy and win more business through automation

GRIMSBY, Ontario, June 16, 2021 — Cimcorp, a manufacturer and integrator of turnkey robotic order fulfillment and tire-handling solutions, has been named a 2021 Top Supply Chain Projects winner by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine, marking its third appearance on the annual award list. Cimcorp earned this year’s recognition for helping global third-party logistics (3PL) provider GEODIS automate its Clayton, Indiana warehouse, enabling faster order fulfillment and complete picking accuracy with its robotic Layer Pick solution.

Formerly known as the SDCE 100, the Top Supply Chain Projects list spotlights successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across a range of supply chain functions. These projects show how solution and service providers help their clients achieve excellence and prepare their supply chains for success.

To win the business of a major consumer goods provider, GEODIS partnered with Cimcorp and systems integrator Advanced Handling Systems (AHS) to implement an automated distribution solution in the Clayton warehouse. Cimcorp supplied its Layer Pick system—a key feature integrated into the overall solution—that uses a gantry robot to rapidly pick products stored in layered quantities from a large volume of inventory. Ideal for 3PL providers like GEODIS, Layer Pick is flexible enough to handle practically any consumer product on the market, and its compact design easily integrates into existing facility footprints.

By offering an automated solution, GEODIS was selected to handle warehousing and distribution operations for one of the largest suppliers of over-the-counter health products in North America. Notably, the system has drastically increased throughput for GEODIS, picking a notable 3,000 layers of product a day in just two shifts vs. three. Layer Pick ensures 100% accuracy of every order, as well as complete product traceability, for improved customer satisfaction. With picking fully automated through  robotics, GEODIS has also eliminated the labor challenges, safety concerns, and inefficiencies associated with manual handling.

“We are honored to be named to the 2021 Top Supply Chain Projects list for our work with GEODIS, a project that demonstrates the benefits of automation for third-party logistics,” said Derek Rickard, Director of Sales, Cimcorp. “As more and more businesses today outsource their logistics activities, they want a partner that can guarantee fast, reliable service. It’s here that warehouse automation can be a powerful competitive differentiator, helping 3PL providers deliver the speed and efficiency needed to keep up with customer demands and ultimately grow their business.”

“The supply chain industry has been challenged with a host of supply chain disruptions over the last year. Yet, the winners on this list continued to re-tool and innovate,” said Marina Mayer, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “Whether it be moving a customer to a cloud-based solution or implementing a more sustainable shipping option, these top supply chain projects reflect the supply chain industry’s strength and resilience to overcome disruptions and work better, smarter and more efficiently in the years ahead.”
