DHL launches 100% Carbon Neutral U.S. Domestic Product

  • All Expedited Max product emissions will be offset through DPDHL climate protection projects.
  • DHL eCommerce Solutions U.S. offset 60,000 metric tons of CO2 in 2020.
  • Carbon emissions reporting is now available for all outbound product shipments.

Weston, FL March 31, 2021 – DHL eCommerce Solutions, a division of the world’s leading logistics company, Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) Group, has launched its existing Expedited Max U.S. domestic product as 100% carbon neutral. All Expedited Max (CO2) emissions will be offset and included as a standard product feature.

Expedited Max domestic parcel tracking will also include a new carbon neutral GoGreen program message and logo. The Expedited Max carbon neutral product is an outcome of our Sustainability Roadmap under the newly launched DPDHL Group Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) goals.

Additionally, all U.S. flats and parcel outbound product customers will have access to a personalized Carbon Emissions Report on the Customer Web Portal. The Carbon Emissions Report will provide customers with visibility of the carbon emissions their shipments are generating on a weekly and monthly basis (gross, offset and net emissions).

Prior to the official launch of the Expedited Max carbon neutral product, DHL eCommerce Solutions U.S. purchased credits to offset an estimated 60,000 metric tons of CO2 generated by Expedited Max shipments in the U.S. in 2020. This carbon offset in 2020 is equivalent to offsetting approximately 150 million miles (based on the average U.S. car emitting 404 grams of CO2 per mile driven).

How does Expedited Max’s carbon offset work?

DHL eCommerce Solutions U.S. calculates carbon emissions from pickup to delivery. The carbon emissions are then offset through DPDHL Group climate protection projects. The projects include renewable energy, waste disposal, wind power, landfill gas to energy, hydropower, among other projects.

All DHL GoGreen program calculations and emissions compensation activities are verified annually by the independent auditing company Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS).
