Chicago, April 7, 2021 — SEKO Logistics and Peli BioThermal are targeting a bigger share of Ireland’s growing pharmaceutical market after extending their two-year partnership, supported by SEKO’s opening of a new 30,000 sq ft facility in Dublin.
Peli BioThermal, which offers the widest range of temperature-controlled, thermally protected packaging and service solutions to the global life sciences industry, appointed SEKO Logistics as its network station and service centre in Ireland in 2019. The world’s top 10 Bio Pharmaceutical companies and 14 of the world’s top 15 medical technology companies all have operations in Ireland as well as 75 pharmaceutical companies contributing to the country’s €39 billion in annual exports connected to the pharma, bio and chemistry sectors.
Since signing the original Master Services Agreement, SEKO has been responsible for servicing, refurbishing, repairing and conditioning shippers from Peli BioThermal’s Crēdo™ on Demand rental program to ensure delicate biological life science materials arrive intact and effective, protected from exterior environments. Peli BioThermal’s Crēdo™ Cargo, Crēdo™ Xtreme and Crēdo™ Cube™ temperature-controlled packaging provides a choice of applications designed to suit all pharmaceutical shippers’ requirements and are offered via flexible rental options. Additionally, SEKO’s Good Distribution Practice (GDP) trained drivers distribute the temperature-controlled, pre-conditioned and validated containers to shippers across Ireland for loading.
The success of the partnership, alongside SEKO’s investment in its new Dublin hub, has enabled Peli BioThermal to now upgrade its service offering to pharma customers in Ireland and leverage SEKO’s international freight forwarding network. Under the newly extended partnership, SEKO now also provides international movements of Crēdo Cargo units by Air, Sea and Road transportation, offering Import, Export and in-house Customs Brokerage services. SEKO has also opened a new Crēdo Cube refurbishment operation within the facility with a GDP-certified team of staff.
SEKO manages Peli BioThermal’s latest Series 4 and Series 22 temperature range, offering customers in Ireland quick and easy access to its 2-8°C and 15-25°C packaging solutions. The increased capacity of the new Dublin warehouse means that since the start of the partnership, the number of Peli BioThermal conditioning units stationed in Ireland has increased by 150%.
Peli BioThermal’s patented technology provides a cost-effective temperature-controlled performer that ensures secure transport of high value pharmaceutical/biotech products qualified to maintain the following:
- Temperature range up to 144+ hours
- Easy to use conditioning method provides significant return on investment with greater volumetric payload size and reduced risk of payload excursions.
“What we are doing with SEKO Logistics in Ireland is over and above what we typically do in other service stations and we’re keen to upgrade some of our other locations to follow this model,” said Adam Tetz, Director of Worldwide Marketing at Peli BioThermal. “SEKO’s new facility has made it easier and more cost efficient to set up these other services and sets a precedent for future network stations. We see massive growth potential in Ireland and the availability of these additional services broadens our scope. Working with SEKO is a great experience. They are very supportive and accommodating, and this has enabled us to move ahead with new opportunities.”
“One of our reasons for moving to a bigger facility in Dublin was to show Peli BioThermal that we are a long-term partner ready to support their growth over the next 3-5 years,” said Michael Daly, Managing Director of SEKO Logistics in Ireland. “We want to help them grow more and, in doing so, show Ireland’s pharma industry the benefits we can offer by centralizing their requirements with us. By combining Peli BioThermal with SEKO’s international freight forwarding network and customs services, we can simplify pharma supply chains and make them more efficient.”
