Printful Partners with Print-On-Demand Facilities to Expand Services in Australia

Charlotte, NC, July 9, 2020  Printful is partnering with two local businesses in Australia to offer print-on-demand products to its merchants in Australia and New Zealand.

Ecommerce is growing in Australia. Online shopping is responsible for almost 10% of the country’s total retail sales. They are expected to reach A$35.2 billion (US$25.2 billion) by 2021.

Australia’s ecommerce market is ranked tenth-largest in the world by revenue. It’s also print-on-demand drop-shipper Printful’s fifth-largest market by sales and order volume.

Printful initially started to explore fulfillment partners in Australia during the Covid-19 pandemic to help serve customers, and has been testing fulfillment with the partner facilities since March. The pandemic brought Printful the unique challenge of continuing to fulfill order volume while following health guidelines and keeping employees safe. To solve these problems, the company innovated new processes, tested quality, and gathered customer feedback with partners to provide high-quality local fulfillment.

These partnerships offer many benefits to customers including faster shipping times. Once shipping systems begin running normally, shipping times will be between two and five days in most areas of Australia and New Zealand.

Duty taxes will be eliminated on orders fulfilled in Australia and New Zealand from Printful’s Australian partner facilities. These orders will also no longer be affected by shifts in the exchange rate or conversion fees.

Printful launched the Australian dollar (AUD) in early May. This means that Printful users can pay Printful in AUD to avoid foreign exchange fees.

Thanks to its two new local partners, Printful can now offer more locally-available products to its customers. One Australian partner will focus on direct-to-garment printing on products including men’s and women’s t-shirts and hoodies. The other partner will focus on items in the Home & Living category including posters and mugs. All other items can still be shipped to Australia from other locations.

CEO Davis Siksnans says he is confident in the quality of service this new partner provides.

“We are committed to the quality of our products and printing services in our own facilities as well as our first outsourcing partners,” he said. “Having trustworthy partners in Australia means having someone to show us the ropes in an exciting new market, and we are working hard to offer the best solutions for our customers’ ecommerce businesses.”
