San Francisco, Dec. 15, 2021 – Today, Shippo announced the addition of Andreas Lieber to its leadership team. Lieber joins in the newly created role of Chief Business Officer with global responsibility for Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, Corporate Development and other strategic growth and expansion efforts.
“Building long-term, strategic partnerships with the platforms that enable today’s ecommerce ecosystem is paramount to achieving our vision for the future of shipping technology,” said Laura Behrens Wu, CEO and co-founder of Shippo. “Between his deep ecommerce knowledge, his decades-long career as a business development leader, and his mastery for navigating large-scale, complex deals, I have no doubt Andreas is the right person to steer Shippo’s ecosystem growth in the years ahead.”
With more businesses using Shippo’s industry-leading platform than ever before, Lieber will play a key role in driving Shippo’s long-term revenue growth and execution.
“Shipping is an integral part of the ecommerce experience, and requires a sophisticated system of integrations and relationships to get a package from checkout to a consumer’s front door,” said Lieber. “The importance of a flawless and fully integrated shipping experience has never been more important than it is today — and the potential for future growth is tremendous. I look forward to working with our partners and stakeholders to help Shippo grow to its fullest potential.”
Previously part of the Postmates Executive Leadership Team, Lieber was hired as the company’s SVP of Business and Corporate Development in 2019 and later named
General Manager and Interim CEO following Uber’s acquisition of Postmates in 2020. Throughout his career, Lieber has held a wide variety of leadership roles in high-growth companies including Pinterest, Groupon and Yahoo!.
2021 has been a banner growth year for Shippo, with the company doubling in size, including the addition of two other executive leaders: Olivier Adler, CFO and Naveen Sanjeeva, SVP Engineering. Additionally, a $45 million financing round in February and an additional $50 million round in June propelled the company to unicorn status. Much of this funding will go towards building out a global platform partnerships business that will enable storefront providers, marketplaces, and logistics providers to easily integrate Shippo’s API, giving their merchants around the world instant access to industry-leading shipping tools and extensive carrier coverage on a global scale.
