Asendia Partners With Israel Post

Asendia, the joint venture between La Poste and Swiss Post, has agreed on a sales partnership with Israel Post. The partnership will unlock potential for retailers looking to expand their business to Israel, a fast-growing ecommerce marketplace. This will give retailers the ability to provide Israeli customers with access to fully tracked shipments.

“Israel has a promising and steadily growing ecommerce market, offering a wide variety of options for retailers,” said Marc Pontet, CEO of Asendia Group. “The partnership with Israel Post will create many opportunities for e-shoppers from the UK, the U.S. and continental Europe.”

Being ranked third in the world for online purchases, Israel’s ecommerce market offers an attractive marketplace for cross-border sellers, with project growth of 8.26% to $4.9 billion by 2020. Over 90% of Israeli internet users have purchased items online, representing 3 million packages sent per month in 2015. Its highly urbanized population of 8 million produced has one of the world’s highest smartphone penetrations at 75% in 2015, with one out of three online purchases carried out via a mobile device.

Israel Post is the largest last-mile provider for ecommerce marketplaces in the country. Its three main sorting centers handle 1.8 million items per day and 2,200 postmen and subcontractors deliver to every locality in Israel.

Home delivery is a key driver of growth for cross-border ecommerce. The service of fully-tracked goods offered by Asendia addresses this market need, enabling retailers to send packets up to 2kg through national postal operators. Items are delivered to the door, and bulky or heavy items are delivered to a collection point. The goods are fully tracked and the recipient can gain information about the delivery status effortlessly.
