American Express Syncs with Twitter to Unlock Ecommerce Experience

American Express announced in a release that Twitter followers of the credit card company can turn certain hashtags into online purchases.

According to a release, card members who sync their credit cards and tweet special hashtags can buy gift cards and products from various ecommerce companies such as Amazon,Sony,Urban Zen and Xbox360.

This syncing venture was first launched on Twitter in March of last year and was aimed at delivering coupon free savings to card members.

The remaining catalog of products will go on sale Feb. 13. The full list of special product hashtags is expected to be highlighted as “favorites” on the
@AmericanExpress Twitter page, according to the release.
