John Zawacki, the president/CEO of apparel and home goods cataloger Blair Corp. since December 1999, will retire on April 1. He will also resign his post on the company’s board of directors.
Zawacki is just the fourth president in the history of the 96-year-old, Warren, PA-based cataloger. And he’s only the second president without the Blair surname.
Zawacki joined Blair, then called New Process Co., in 1972 and spent 28 years holding positions of increasing responsibility in the company’s womenwear department. He has served on Blair’s board of directors for the past 19 years. The board of directors is establishing a transition committee to assist the full board in the selection of Zawacki’s successor.
In other company news, Blair has appointed Adelmo S. Lopez executive vice president. Lopez will report to Zawacki, but will be directly responsible for all operations within the company. Lopez previously served as group general manager, responsible for five strategic business units, at Russell Corp., an activewear and outdoor company.
