Second-quarter sales at Cabela’s (NYSE: CAB) rose 16.5% to $451.2 million, up from $387.3 million for the same period in 2006. For the period ended June 30, the Sidney, NE-based outdoor gear marketer’s net income increased 35%, to $11.3 million, compared to $8.4 million last year.
Direct sales rose 4.5%, to $203.9 million up from $195.0 million. Total retail sales were up nearly 32%, to $199.6 million, which included a decrease of 0.8% in same-store sales.
Cabela’s president/CEO Dennis Highby said in a release: “During the second quarter, we generated significant sales and profit gains across each business segment.”
