Office Depot has announced that customers can now pick up most of its online inventory at a traditional brick and mortar store within an hour of ordering from the web.
In a press release, the office supply retail chain said that once an order is placed in a shopping cart, consumers will have the option to select “Pick up” as part of the checkout process with most of the store’s inventory. Consumers can also search for “store pickup available” in the site search bar.
The free option, the release states, will prompt the shopper to enter a zip code or store number during the checkout process which will allow the consumer to choose the closest retailer.
Office Depot states in the release that within an hour after the order is placed, users will receive a notification email stating, “Good News! Your order is ready for pickup,” as well as instructions on picking up your order.
According to the release, purchases will be available for in-store pickup for up to 48 hours after the order was placed online. After 48 hours, all items will be returned to inventory and the customer’s account will be credited.
Users of the new service will not be charged any shipping fees for the pickup service, according to the release.
