Rubin Response Cofounder Bill Rubin Dies Suddenly

Bill Rubin, who founded list brokerage/management firm Rubin Response in 1974, died of a massive heart attack on Sept. 18. He was 65.

After years of working on the client side of the direct marketing business, Rubin and his wife Arlene founded the Schaumburg, IL-based Rubin Response at their kitchen table. The firm currently employs 75 in both the management and brokerage sides. Two of their daughters, vice president Judy Rubin, and director of advertising Linda Rubin, remain actively involved in the business; Arlene is executive vice president.

“He was the inspiration to start the company and really cared about the needs of the clients,” says senior account executive Donna Lundell. “He and Arlene also gave the employees a lot of guidance and encouragement to make us all better at our jobs.”
