The Annual Catalog Conference (ACC) has seen the catalog industry through both highs and lows over the past 19 years. And while this year is shaping up to be an interesting one for the history books for catalogers across the globe, the world’s largest catalog event is poised to show attendees a better way with the 2002 conference: Catalog Future Forward: Your Journey Toward Greater Profits Starts Here.
On June 10-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, ACC 2002 will take aim at today’s greatest challenges in the catalog industry with new sessions, fresh faces and innovative ideas. The event has been reengineered to deliver the best practices and profit strategies that catalogers everywhere are craving now.
Designed to be selected by discipline or by an individual’s specific interest, the ACC conference agenda includes focused tracks on: business-to-business, circulation, creative & production, management & strategy, marketing, merchandising, multichannel, and small & start-up catalogs. The 75 ACC conference sessions are available in one-, three- and four-day packages including special features such as full-day catalog intensives, catalog critiques, executive forums, the Annual Catalog Awards and more.
Big Names & Big Lessons
Powerful keynote presentations, including heavy-hitter Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com, promise to be a highlight for ACC attendees. Drawing from the past seven years of success building Amazon.com into the leading e-commerce platform-technology customer experience, Bezos plans to describe how to successfully expand catalogs online by winning new customers through incremental sales. Other industry leading keynoters include Cynthia Fields, formerly of Victoria’s Secret, and a panel discussion with Donn Rappaport of the American List Counsel, Michael Sherman of Fingerhut, Becky Jewett of Norm Thompson Outfitters, and Tim Litle of Litle & Co.
Two Executive Forum discussions planned for Wednesday morning, June 12, offer top catalog executives the opportunity to sit down together for an open discussion of such critical issues as building a strategic plan to ensure the success of your business and how to position your business for improved liquidity in the future.
Hands-on catalog critiques for on-line and off-line catalogs round out the big lessons in store at ACC. On Thursday, June 13, a panel of catalog-industry experts will conduct the event’s new multichannel critiques. Catalogers will have the opportunity to submit their own product for review in exchange for the chance to take home tips and strategies for improving their catalog. It’s the first-ever multichannel personalized analysis for the ACC conference.
Prestigious Awards to be Given
Also on Wednesday, June 12, Catalog Age magazine will honor the gold and silver winners of the 2002 Annual Catalog Awards and the I.Merchant Awards. With a record-breaking 300 entries, the Annual Catalog Awards will be even more competitive this year. And only a handful of the catalogs entered will walk away with one of the prestigious honors.
Hundreds of Catalog Solutions
Face-to-face interaction is one of the greatest benefits of the conference or trade show format, and ACC claims to have built the event around such networking opportunities. Hundreds of booths within the large exhibit hall in the Lakeside Center area of McCormick Place, will feature a full range of suppliers from categories such as advertising & promotions, computer software, direct marketing, fulfillment, online services, list enhancement, marketing research, telemarketing and more. The catalog industry’s largest exhibit hall boasts two networking receptions and plenty of exhibit hall hours during the three day exhibit hall opening (June 10-12) to satisfy the ACC attendee’s networking urge. With all that’s new and fresh about this year’s 19th Annual Catalog Conference, it’s no wonder the conference is being billed as the must-attend event for managers, executives and others who are expected to become a “change agent” within the company. A tall order to be sure, but one that most ACC attendees will find imperative to their success in these critical times of economic uncertainty.
The Annual Catalog Conference is sponsored by Catalog Age magazine and the Direct Marketing Association, Inc.; June 10-13, 2002, McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois. For additional conference information, visit www.catalogconference.com, or call 877-517-3040 or 404-584-7458.
