Your 5-point Checklist for Going Omnichannel

Seamless, Secure Checkout

omnichannel checklistMobile devices have changed the customer engagement game. In addition to easy access to information, consumers are increasingly expecting checkout capabilities from mobile devices. To be effective, retailers need to ensure mobile checkout options are integrated with other store information systems, and work seamlessly with other sales channels.

For a seamless, secure checkout, retailers should think about:

  • Payment options: Retailers must be able to accept existing payment options, like credit cards, debit cards and pre-paid cards, as well as alternative payment options, like PayPal or Square. To that point, retailers should ensure that they have the support for contactless payment options, like host-card emulation (HCE), mobile network operators (MNOs) and other mobile wallets, as well.
  • Complete purchases on customer’s behalf: A Forrester Report stated that 35 percent of US online adults expect an associate with a mobile-equipped device to perform an in-aisle checkout for them. When retailers can leverage secure, stored customer information, it makes the process quick and easy.
  • Keep the infrastructure secure: Payment details and personally identifiable information (PII) must be encrypted and secure, and in compliance with governmental and industry standards. This includes, but is not limited to, PCI-DSS, European Data Protection Act and SOC2.
