Neiman Marcus has expanded its “Snap. Find. Shop” feature on its mobile app, with help from visual search provider Slyce.
The feature allows shoppers to snap 3D images of items across any category including women’s apparel, shoes, handbags, jewelry, home furnishings and more.
“We know that our customer leads a very busy lifestyle because she relies on us to provide ways to allow her to shop any time she wants to from any place she wants,” said Wanda Gierhart, CMO of Neiman Marcus.
Originally launched in October 2014, the feature was only available for shoes and handbags. It was expanded due to the high demand for image based search by mobile customers. It allows shoppers to receive direct or closely matching items from Neiman Marcus’ product offering, which can be purchased easily at the point of inspiration.
Gierhart said Neiman Marcus already knows that 70% of its customers do research online before they come into a store. The updated app feature, she said, gives them another ways to research its offerings.
“When we initially rolled out with shoes and handbags, we found that customers were taking lots of pictures of items in other categories as well,” she said. “We always try to exceed our customers’ expectations and realized there was a demand for this technology across all our products as well.”
