Pinterest has upped the IQ of its pins so that retailers can get more out of pinning and in turn, it can drum up sales, according to an article by Venturebeat.com.
With its interactive product pins, consumers can now click on a pin and find out where it comes from and whether a particular retailer has it in stock before the consumer leaves the site, according to the article.
To begin this initiative, Pinterest is working with websites such as Anthropologie, Etsy and others to add information to the pins. Retailers that want to make their pins “richer” can join Pinterest as a business or convert their account, according to the article.
Since consumers are using mobile these days, Pinterest is making the Pin It button available on applications such as ModCloth, The North Face and others so consumers can pin wherever they are.
