Philadelphia-based imprintable sportswear cataloger Broder Bros. announced on Aug. 31 that it has acquired NES Clothing Co., a Middleboro, MA-based regional distributor of imprintable sportswear. Boston-based private equity firm Bain Capital, which owns the majority stake in Broder Bros., orchestrated the deal to buy the privately owned NES.
Broder Bros.and its Alpha Shirt Co. division, which it acquired in September 2003, distribute shirts, fleece jackets, and sweaters from manufacturers such as Gildan, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, and Jerzees to screen printers, embroiderers and promotional product distributors.
NES will continue with its own catalog, customer service team, sales force, Website, and unique product offering, including the Harvard Square private label line. NES CEO Michael Rosow will stay on as a consultant to Broder Bros.; Ronald Nathan, executive vice president will be president of NES Division of Broder and manage operations.
