A majority of the workers at the Indianapolis and Plainfield, IN, distribution centers of multititle apparel and home goods cataloger Brylane voted in favor of representation by the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE). As of Jan. 28, a 52% majority of Brylane workers had mailed ballots in favor of union representation. In a statement, Brylane chairman/CEO Russell Stravitz affirmed that the New York-based company will honor the Dec. 27 agreement that left the issue of unionization in the hands of an employee vote. “We will move forward to establish a productive working relationship with the union, and we will negotiate a contract in good faith, dealing fairly with each other,” he said.
