Henry Schein Buys Three European Firms

Healthcare Products And Services Provider Henry Schein announced Jan. 12 that it has acquired three European companies serving the veterinary, dental and medical markets.

Schein snapped up Noviko, a $70 million distributor of veterinary supplies in the Czech Republic; DNA Anthos Impianti (DNA), the $43 million Italian distribution arm of Cefla Dental, a manufacturer of dental equipment; and Medka, a $36 million Berlin-based provider of medical consumables, equipment and technical services, primarily to physicians.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed. The three transactions are expected to be accretive to Henry Schein’s 2009 financial results. Net sales the Melville, NY-based Henry Schein reached $5.9 billion in 2007.

“The acquisitions of Noviko, DNA Anthos Impianti and Medka further strengthen our leading presence in Europe and bring Henry Schein new veterinary, dental and medical customers,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Henry Schein chairman/CEO, in a statement.

“We look forward to sharing best practices between these newly acquired organizations and our existing operations, and to using our combined strengths to enhance our Pan-European presence,” Bergman said.
