Q&A

How would you describe your job and what you do?
Marketing and General Manager Executive with Creative, Catalog/Ecommerce Marketing, Merchandising, Sales and Customer Service as well as operations experience – Strategic and tactical

Why do you think you were chosen to be an MCM Awards judge?
25 Years of catalog, and now ecommerce experience from major corporations (Sara Lee, Hershey, Petsmart, and ARAMARK). Educated by industry founding fathers and application within these companies. Gems tend to be those who understand direct marketing/catalog / ecommerce principles (branding, creative, merchandise, offers, etc) and effectively apply each to drive customer engagement – sales and profits. They ensure all the elements work together for a cohesive brand strategy. Duds tend to lack the basic principles and don’t have a overarching strategy and means to track the success (or lack) of their creative, merchandising, and offers.

What direct marketing subject could you talk about all day?
Pieces & Parts – How to build an integrated Marketing Campaign. A Case study on Marketing Campaign Development from creative (both catalog, and web), and offer (print & web/email) based on your customer’s perspective . . . and how they responded.

What excites you most outside the office?
Meeting new people, helping the Lexington Humane Society (board member), going to the gym / spinning, spending time with my husband, riding my horse, sailing, and roasting coffee . .. helping the DMA when possible (MCM judging and speaking engagements)

What was your first job?
Waitress at a country club . . . that actually led me to another part time job and exposure to cataloging, getting an eduction in direct marketing and my first professional job (in Direct). The company was purchased by Sara Lee and my career took off.

In high school, I was:
balanced… athletics, good grades, and worked to go to college
