Norwalk, CT-based computer cataloger Micro Warehouse on Oct. 15 launched a wholly-owned subsidiary Micro Warehouse Gov/Ed. Headquartered in Ashburn, VA, the new division will focus on Micro Warehouse’s established $450 million annual rate-run public-sector business by supporting government and educational needs and requirements.
Government customers, such as the U.S. Air Force, the State Department, and U.S. Army, focus on IT initiatives, which call for accelerated access to state-of-the art technology products and services, said Micro Warehouse chairman/CEO Jerome York in a statement. “Our strategic partnerships with the Association of Education Purchasing Agencies and E and I allows us to provide and expand on the IT solutions required by the education marketplace.”
Bill Shafley, a former vice president of the government sales division of computer cataloger CDW, will serve as president and chief operating officer of Micro Warehouse Gov/Ed. Another former CDW government division executive Burl Williams will serve as senior vice president of the new Micro Warehouse company responsible for contracts and field sales.
