Net income takes a fall at Black Box

Computer and networking products marketer Black Box (Nasdaq: BBOX) reported that its second quarter net income fell 12%, to $15.0 million, compared with $17.1 million for the period last year. The Pittsburgh-based company’s total revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 29 tumbled 17%, to $163 million, compared with $154 million last year. Though the cost of sales at Black Box fell 19%, to $99.4 million, from $122.0 million last year, gross profit for the quarter sank 15%, to $63.4 million from $75.0 million in 2001.
