At press time, the outcome of the 2000 presidential election was still in question. But the race was not nearly so close with two neckties sold in Favorites, a nostalgia-themed catalog from Chelmsford, MA-based Catalog Ventures, part of Potpourri Collections. One of the ties features Democratic donkeys; the other has Republican elephants. So who won? According to company president Jack Rosenfeld, the Republicans swept it, with Elephants taking 63% of the vote.
Perhaps it helped that Favorites did not have a Reform party tie to confuse shoppers.
