Pitney Bowes Inc., a global technology company that provides innovative products and solutions to power commerce, today announced the acquisition of Enroute Systems Corporation, a cloud-based, software-as-a-service enterprise retail and fulfillment solutions company. Enroute’s capabilities complement and expand Pitney Bowes’s global ecommerce offerings for companies throughout the retail supply chain. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Based in Seattle, Washington, Enroute delivers advanced cloud-based, software-as-a-service transportation management system solutions to the shipping and logistics industries. Since 2008, Enroute’s enterprise-grade, multi-carrier shipping solutions have helped high-volume retailers and e-tailers with faster shipping execution times, lower shipping costs, enhanced business intelligence, and real-time supply chain visibility and tracking.
“As companies continue to innovate and improve on the overall retail shopping experience, how they cater to consumers will continue to change. What is critical for both consumers and retailers is a seamless shopping experience across channels with flexible delivery options,” said Lila Snyder, president, Global Ecommerce, Pitney Bowes. “The expansion of our ecommerce offerings will enable us to help our clients deliver a better consumer shopping experience from sales order to package delivery by connecting a variety of physical and digital processes in the fulfillment management chain.”
“Our team is delighted to be joining Pitney Bowes. This integration will expand Global Ecommerce scenarios such as omnichannel solutions already in use by our clients to a much broader and global market,” said Keith McCall, founder of Enroute Systems Corporation. “To be part of a company that embraces the intersection between the digital and physical worlds of commerce creates very exciting opportunities for innovation and growth.”
Snyder added, “Our newest clients will have the opportunity to benefit from Pitney Bowes’s ecommerce scale and end-to-end capabilities which help retailers, brands and online marketplaces expand globally and transact with consumers in more than 220 countries and territories and more than 74 currencies worldwide.”
