Do your feet smell? If so, Lands’ End may be able to help. The Dodgeville, WI-based apparel cataloger has developed a sock made of special silver-coated fibers that prevent the growth of the bacteria that cause foot odor. Better still, the socks have acrylic fibers that pull moisture away from the skin and inhibit sweating.
The super socks were road-tested at the textile division of Good Housekeeping magazine in New York. After participants hiked, exercised, and just walked in the socks for two days without washing, sniff-testers determined that the cataloger’s product had only a slight odor compared with cotton socks subjected to the same treatment. Our congratulations to Lands’ End on this innovation, and our sympathy to the poor slobs who had to smell the socks.
