Washington–The U.S. Postal Service is considering changing some of its mail preparation rules for automatable Standard A flats and Standard B packages. Among the changes being considered, mailers might have to sack their mailings and oversized or odd-shaped packages together. Also, some Standard A mailers may be forced to use sacks or pallets. While the potential changes could ultimately lower–or at least level off–postal rates, the move is intended primarily to help the USPS reduce costs.
