USPS Releases CASS Enhancement

Mailers using the U.S. Postal Service’s Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) to verify their mailing lists can now use a new software enhancement the USPS released on April 7. Called Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI), the new product identifies whether addresses are classified as business or residential.

By verifying whether an address is business or residential, according to USPS vice president of product development Nicholas Barranca, shippers can determine the best rates and service provider to meet their needs. Two postal licensees–BCC Software, through its Software Mail Manager 2010, and Group 1 Software, through its Code-1 Plus–will offer RDI.
