Viking Founder Helford to Sell Office Depot Holdings

Delray Beach, FL—Viking Office Products catalog founder Irwin Helford, who sold his company to superstore office supplies retailer Office Depot in 1998, plans to reduce his holdings of Office Depot. Helford will sell some 200,000 shares of company stock per quarter from his 3.1 million shares of Office Depot stock, most of which he acquired when he sold Viking. Helford came out of retirement earlier this year, and has been serving as a part-time Viking CEO as his protégé, Office Depot CEO Bruce Nelson, who has had to focus more heavily on other Office Depot matters.
