Youth apparel retailer Five Below opened a 1 million-square-foot-plus distribution center in Oldmans, NJ. The company will initially occupy 700,000 square feet of the space.
Techtronic Industries, whose home improvement brands include Milwaukee, AEG, Ryobi, Homelite, Hoover, Oreck, Vax and Dirt Devil, has broken ground on a 1.3-million-square-foot distribution center in Anderson, SC, which will open in Q2 of 2016. The company is investing $85 million in the facility and will create at least 216 new jobs over the next five years.
FedEx Ground plans to build a 150,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Dewitt, NY, outside Syracuse. The company also plans to build a new 54,000-square-foot facility in Brainerd, MN, and is seeking permits to build a Northeast distribution center at a long-vacant Aetna campus in Middletown, CT.
CVS Caremark is seeking to add 69,120 square feet onto an existing 160,000-square-foot distribution center in Hanover Township, NJ.
Amazon plans to build a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Windsor, CT that will employ about 300 workers.
Michael Kors will soon break ground on a distribution center in Venlo, Netherlands. It will service all of the luxury fashion brand’s European and Middle Eastern retail, wholesale and, eventually, e-commerce needs.
IKEA has submitted plans to city officials in Joliet, IL for a second 1.4 million square foot distribution center, adjacent to a similar-sized facility it plans to open in the summer of 2017. The combined hub would serve IKEA stores throughout the Midwestern as well as customer fulfillment.
