Amazon is considering opening a new fulfillment center in Fall River, MA, according to WBUR.com. The company has reportedly sent a letter of intent to build a facility in the city which would create 1,000 new full-time jobs during its first three years of operations.
LA Auto Gear Inc. is using a formerly vacant, 10,000-square-foot building in Kokomo, IN as its Midwest distribution center, according to the Kokomo Tribune.
Amazon plans to have its first distribution center and fulfillment center facilities in Illinois by 2015, meaning the company will have to start collecting and remitting state sales tax on items sold from those locations, according to the Chicago Tribune. A company spokesman said there will be “multiple locations” in Illinois by the end of 2017.
Falken Tire Corp. has opened a distribution center in Joliet, IL to service dealers in the Chicago metropolitan area and across the Midwest and into central Canada, according to Tire Business. The company also opened a 219,000-square-foot distribution center in Robbinsville, NJ, in September to service to customers in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Eastern Canada.
FedEx Ground has opened an 180,000-square-foot automated distribution center in New Haven, IN, according to the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly.
