FedEx to Raise Ground, Home Delivery Rates

FedEx Corp. said on Dec. 4 it will be raising rates for FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery by an average of 4.9%, effective Jan. 1.T hese changes include an adjustment to the fuel surcharge for FedEx Ground shipments, which will be assessed on additional applicable transportation-related surcharges.

FedEx had already annouunced last month that the net average shipping costs for FedEx Express would rise 3.5%, which consists of a 5.5% average increase in standard list rates offset by a 2% point reduction in its fuel surcharge. The rates also take effect on Jan. 1.

And as of Feb. 5 the courier will use a dimensional weight measurement for oversize FedEx Ground shipments. If the dimensional weight is greater than the actual weight, dimensional weight will apply to FedEx Ground shipments that are three cubic feet or greater.
