PC Cataloger Changes Names for Second Time in a Year

Torrance, CA–Less than a year after formally changing its name from Creative Computers to IdeaMall last summer, this holding company of two computer catalogs–PC Mall and Mac Mall–plans to change its name again—this time to PC Mall. The name change is consistent with the company’s intensifying focus since third quarter 2000 to PCs, and away from Macintosh computer products, said chairman/president/CEO Frank Khulusi in a statement.

The name change, which was approved by the company’s board of directors on April 11, will become final following shareholder approval at the company’s annual meeting in early summer. The company also operates two startup wholly owned subsidiaries: eLinux and eCost.com. ELinux is similar to IdeaMall’s core business, but with a focus on Linux-based solutions. ECost.com is primarily a Web-based, multicategory supplier of high technology products.
