A Black Friday Decline? Consumers Shopping From Home
The CFI Group 2013 Holiday Retail Spending Report suggests consumers are placing less emphasis on the Black Friday and are starting their holiday shopping earlier in the season. Forty-five percent of consumers reported they would begin before November and 61% indicated they’d finish their shopping completely by early December. According to Deloitte’s survey annual survey of holiday spending intentions and trends, 25% of consumers plan to shop on Black Friday. However, 45% indicate that Black Friday isn’t as important as it used to be. More Black Friday shoppers may stay home and shop for deals online this year, according to a survey of 500 U.S. consumers conducted in September by Accenture. The survey says 30% of shoppers will avoid the crowds and do most of their shopping online. That’s up from 25% last year. [Click the page numbers or arrows to see the 11 other trends]
