Brightpearl Named as the Only Digital Operations Platform Built for Retail, in New Forrester Report

AUSTIN, TX and BRISTOL, UK, March 19, 2020 — Global Analytics firm Forrester’s most recent report ushers in the era of the Digital Operations Platform, whilst naming Brightpearl as one of the top solutions in its category.

The “Now Tech: Digital Operations Platforms” report gives an overview of some of the world’s leading Digital Operations Platforms based on size, functionality and the market that they cater for. The report includes the likes of Oracle, NetSuite and Workday, with Brightpearl listed as the only solution built specifically for retail.

The report indicates that with the advent of the Digital Operations Platform there has been a shift away from inflexible Enterprise Resource Planning to a platform that is more agile and designed with adaptability in mind, stating that:

“While ERP systems of the past have been largely inflexible, expensive to upgrade, and poorly suited to modern digital businesses, we now see the beginning of a new era of operations technology, which Forrester defines as the digital operations platform.”

It goes on to categorize vendors based on size and functionality and advises possible buyers on how to evaluate a prospective DOP.

CEO of Brightpearl, Derek O’Carroll said: “ The Forrester report is an excellent resource, and we’re incredibly proud to have been listed as the only DOP that has been built for retail. In an era in which supply chains can be complicated, merchants are selling through multiple channels and competition is tough, it’s important that businesses have an operations solution that is adaptable to shifts in demand and makes use of real time data to constantly optimize the business model.”

Mr O’Carroll went on to say that “Our most recent study on the US retail market actually found that 50% of US businesses don’t feel that they have the time or expertise to select a technology vendor, so clearly this Forrester report is coming at a time where businesses need further education on digital solutions.”
