There’s a lot of buzz these days around same-day delivery, with major players like Google, Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Newegg and others all looking for a piece of the action by launching services in major metro areas.
But questions remain: is there any sizzle to the steak? How big can this trend get? Is it just an urban phenomenon?
In a recent report, BI Intelligence, Business Insider’s industry research service, estimated that roughly $100 million worth of merchandise will be delivered same-day this year, with the market realizing a compound annual growth rate of 154% over the next five years, surpassing $4 billion in 2018.
