Here is a listing of some recently announced expansions, additions and closures in distribution and fulfillment centers:
Ulta Beauty is planning a 670,000-square-foot regional distribution center in southwest Dallas.
FedEx has plans to build a $50 million 300,000-square-foot distribution center in San Diego that is expected to cost $50 million, as well as another in Farmington, N.Y. that will employ an estimated 400 workers.
FedEx Ground is planning to build a 300,000-square-foot distribution in Butler County, PA that will employ 200 when it opens in August 2016.
FedEx will build a 300,000-square-foot distribution center in Nashville which should be completed by April 2016, as well as another 300,000-square-foot facility in the Orlando, FL area that will be done by May 2016.
FedEx Ground is also planning a new distribution center just north of Fort Worth, TX that will employ 375 workers.
J.C. Penney is shutting down its Summer distribution center which will result in 112 layoffs. This is the second J.C. Penney location in the Seattle region to close in months.
Target will be bringing 600 jobs either to Memphis, TN or Olive Branch, MS, when the company decides where to locate a regional distribution center.
Ebay is opening a new European fulfillment center in Germany in the second quarter of 2015. In the last 12 months, eBay Enterprise has reached double-digit growth in European customer volume.
Amazon plans to open a distribution center in Concord, NC, creating 150 to 300 jobs.
