Target announced it is shuttering its Cartwheel Perks program and provide a better program down the road. Target has been testing its Cartwheel Perks program for a year in five markets.
CNBC reported that Target said, “Creating simple, convenient and fun digital tools for Target guests means listening carefully to guest feedback and regularly making adjustments based on what we hear.” “That’s why we’ve begun phasing out the pilot Cartwheel Perks program.”
The program allows in-store shoppers to gain points each time with their purchases. After reaching a threshold, customers can redeem points on various items.
This pilot program launched in September in Denver, Houston, San Diego, St. Louis and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.
All is not lost however, Target plans to make changes to its main app, like adding maps so shoppers will know when they’re close to deals in stores. Target is also rolling out a mobile payment option for its REDcard credit card holders.
