It’s hard to believe (or maybe not) that one brand launching in Target could cause such a commotion. Well that was the case this past weekend when luxury apparel retailer Lilly Pulitzer launched its products on Target.com and in stores.
There were reports that the Target website and its apps were overwhelmed by the demand Sunday morning because of the launch. Target addressed customer frustrations using social media promising customers they would soon be able to shop the iconic line. Target told customers on Twitter they were making adjustments to the site.
Due to the overwhelming excitement for the #LillyforTarget collection we are making adjustments to our website. Stay tuned for updates.

Marketwatch reported that Target took its site offline for 20 minutes due to the rush of shoppers looking for the collection of Lilly Pulitzer bathing suits, shift dresses and jumpsuits selling for a fraction of the price.
