Amazon Reportedly Plans Web Version of Prime Now

Next month, Amazon plans to offer its one- and two-hour Prime Now service via its website, according to a report in Bloomberg. This will significantly increase the reach of the service, as web users far outstrip mobile app users.

While mobile commerce is expected to reach $96.2 billion in the U.S. this year, it only represents 25% of all ecommerce, according to eMarketer. There are an estimated 40 to 50 million Prime members in the U.S.

Launched in New York in December 2014, Prime Now is available in 20 U.S. cities and London. In addition to order shipments from Amazon.com, it also includes deliveries from local restaurants and stores. Two-hour deliveries are free for Amazon Prime members who pay $99 per year, while one-hour delivery costs $8.
