Third-party logistics provider GlobalTranz Enterprises has acquired Cerasis, a provider of managed transportation and third-party multi-modal logistics services, marking its 11th acquisition since January 2017.
Founded in 1997, Cerasis has a managed transportation client base that uses its 3PL/4PL service offerings and technology solutions, including TMS. GlobalTranz said it has doubled its managed transportation business in the past year, and the addition of Cerasis will certainly accelerate that growth.
GlobalTranz was already one of the 10 largest managed transportation brokers in the U.S. before the latest acquisition, according to FreightWaves.
“Cerasis has a strong history of providing its customers with solutions that help create competitive and operative advantages,” said Renee Krug, CEO of GlobalTranz, in a release. “Cerasis will help expand GlobalTranz’s growing managed transportation, final mile and reverse logistics capabilities. The talented team at Cerasis combined with the talented team of agents and employees at GlobalTranz will drive increased differentiation and accelerate growth of our solutions in the marketplace.”
Cerasis’s portfolio includes less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload (TL) and parcel freight management, carrier relations, freight claims management, transportation accounting, final mile logistics, reverse logistics and inbound freight management.
“We have made transportation management less complicated by bringing together the right people, processes and technology,” said Steve Norall, vice president of Business Development at Cerasis, in the release. “Combining with GlobalTranz allows us to continue this history while providing our customers with increased service offerings and access to capacity.”
Other recent acquisitions by GlobalTranz include Chicago-based freight brokerage and logistics firm Global Freight Solutions in October 2019 and 3PL Circle 8 Logistics, a provider of third-party multimodal transportation and logistics services, in April 2019.
