The economy is forcing online retailers to change their marketing tactics in order to acquire and retain customers, according to findings from The State of Retailing Online 2009, the 12th annual Shop.org study conducted by Forrester Research.
First-quarter sales for online giant Amazon.com rose 18%, to $4.89 billion, up from $41.3 billion in the first quarter of 2008. Net income increased 24%, to $177 million, up from $143 million last year.
