Grocers may be ringing up major sales from the crush of store and online panic buying due to the growing coronavirus threat, but the market will be painful after the situation abates as demand falls and supplies are overstocked, a Barclays analyst said in a research note.
While several U.S. cities have yet to reap the benefits of AmazonFresh, several reports are indicating the grocery delivery service will begin expanding overseas to the U.K. as early as September of this year.
eBay said 83 businesses – including online merchants as well as retailers with physical stores – have joined its eBay Local pilot program in Brooklyn, NY., offering a range of delivery options, including $5 same-day and in-store pickup, to consumers through eBay’s website and mobile apps.
The Brooklyn trial is taking place as the company shifts the focus of Amazon Local more toward its core marketplace sellers, with less emphasis on major retailers.
The same-day delivery sweepstakes certainly seems to be heating up as the summer nears the end. Just this past week, Foot Locker, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s all announced plans this week to test or roll out same-day delivery.
Deeping their existing relationship, the U.S. Postal Service last month started a two-month test run of delivering groceries for AmazonFresh in San Francisco.
