While the U.S. Postal Service ended the first quarter of 2014 with a net loss of $354 million, its shipping business increased by 14%. This growth, UPS said, was fueled by an increase in online shopping and Sunday deliveries in limited U.S. markets.
Every year at about this time, the USPS announces rate changes and many merchants start to panic on how these increases will impact their operation. Amazon.com will soon begin delivery parcels to its U.K. online customers at nearly 5,000 convenience stores through collection network CollectPlus. Amazon began the trial run program a few months ago on a small scale with books and clothing and has now rolled it out nationwide.
